Ubud is a treasure trove of cultural landmarks, ranging from ancient temples and majestic age-old royal palaces to modern art galleries and fabulous museums. There are several excellent examples of these situated right in the middle of town. The Ubud Royal Palace sits at the junction of the Ubud Main Road and Monkey Forest Road. The local royal family lives here, but you can still stroll the grounds and admire the buildings. Just 150 meters further along the Main Road you will find Pura Taman Saraswati temple, honouring Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, literature and art. This temple is set within a beautiful water garden with thousands of lotus flowers. Museum Puri Lukisan is also nearby and hosts many interesting exhibitions. While you are in the neighbourhood, pop into Casa Luna for a great coffee or lunch!
